Lukashenko sent congratulations to foreign leaders on 79th anniversary of Great Victory

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent congratulations to foreign leaders on the 79th anniversary of the Great Victory, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service

Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent congratulatory messages to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people – Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the peoples of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

In a congratulatory message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Head of State noted that Victory in the Great Patriotic War became an imperishable connecting thread between the fraternal peoples of Belarus and Russia, while the unprecedented feat of millions of Soviet people, the difficult trials that befell them and the countless sacrifices are forever inscribed in the two states’ heroic chronicles.

Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined that 2024 is marked for Belarusians by a glorious anniversary: the 80th anniversary of the country’s liberation from the fascist invaders. “This special date is a good occasion to remind the whole world of perseverance in the face of common threats, readiness and ability to defend every inch of our native land, to preserve and protect the legacy of the people’s feat,” the President noted. “Today, Belarusian-Russian unity serves as the main outpost in opposing persistent attempts to rewrite history and justify genocide and Nazism. I’m convinced that our strength, security and well-being rely on such a partnership.”

Addressing the people of Georgia, the President of Belarus recalled that Victory was achieved not only by force of arms, but also by the unbending will, perseverance and unity of fraternal nations, turning into a symbol of the courage and spiritual greatness of the Soviet people, who defended the right to exist for future generations. “In today’s realities, it is important to carefully preserve for our descendants the truth about the joint struggle against Nazism, and to resolutely resist any attempts to distort and revise the results of the Great Patriotic War,” the President noted.

Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined that Belarus remembers and sacredly honours the sons of Georgia who fought and gave their lives for Belarus, “I’m sure that gratitude to the victorious heroes and deep respect for our shared history are a strong connecting link between our countries and citizens.”

Congratulating the people of Moldova on the anniversary of the Great Victory, the Head of State noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus and Moldova from the Nazi invaders. “I’m convinced that the traditions of fraternal friendship and mutual assistance of our peoples – forged in the harsh hard times of war – and shared memory will not allow us to forget about the immortal feat of the victorious soldiers and rewrite the glorious pages of the history of the Great Patriotic War,” the Belarusian leader underlined.

In his congratulations to the people of Ukraine, Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that, despite the decades that have passed since the spring of 1945, May 9th will forever remain a day of blessed memory for the residents of Belarus and Ukraine. “Thanks to unity and courage, at the cost of heavy losses and enormous efforts, Belarusians and Ukrainians together were able to defeat a ruthless enemy, defending the freedom and independence of their homeland,” the congratulatory message reads. “On this day we proudly remember the glorious pages of our shared history and honour the liberating heroes. Our common duty today is not to forget their feat, draw conclusions from the past and resist any attempts to rewrite the results of the Great Patriotic War.”

The President of Belarus also congratulated representatives of the top leadership of the Russian Federation and the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, as well as heads of international and regional organisations on Victory Day.

Aleksandr Lukashenko and the Belarusian people also receive congratulations on the anniversary of the Great Victory from foreign leaders and famous figures in various fields.
