160 thousand tonnes of confectionery produced in Belarus in 2023

The confectionery industry is one of the largest ones in the country in terms of the number of operating enterprises: there are more than two hundred of them – as informed by Aleksandr Yakovchits, the Deputy Chairman of Belgospishcheprom Concern

“The confectionery industry is one of the most modernised ones in terms of technological equipment, and it is one of the most highly competitive: there are about six thousand varieties of products in the portfolio of the concern's factories alone,” Mr. Yakovchits said.

Last year, 160 thousand tonnes of confectionery were produced in Belarus, and capacity utilisation of the domestic confectionery enterprises exceeded 86 percent.

According to the official, a third of all sweet products are exported. “Last year, we received $173m in foreign currency revenue, and the growth in physical terms made 15 percent. The geography of supplies covers 41 countries," Mr. Yakovchits noted.
